Gluteoplasty

What is Gluteoplasty

Buttock reshaping and/or augmentation plastic surgery, also known as gluteoplasty, seeks to restore the buttocks’ circumference, size, and shape for aesthetic reasons or to correct deformities resulting from factors such as diseases or accidents. Usually, the results of the procedure are natural and satisfactory.

Medical Travel Brazil has partnered with some of the best surgeons who, in addition to being experts and researchers in the area, are nationally and internationally renowned for the quality and exclusivity of the care provided and precision in surgical results.  Here we explain the real benefits of the procedure and how we can improve your quality of life with a highly safe and warmly supported medical trip by our team of Concierges, Doctors and Nurses.

Gluteal Prosthesis

Who is a good candidate for gluteoplasty surgery?

Gluteoplasty is recommended for people who want to increase or adjust the shape of the buttocks. Despite being indicated for patients with small buttocks, the loss of support, flabbiness and the unusual shape of the region are also valid reasons to undergo a gluteoplasty, which also has the purpose of obtaining a “lifting” effect.

Types of gluteoplasty:

Gluteoplasty can be performed in two ways. One of them is by grafting fat taken from another region of the body. This material is then cleaned so that only the good cells are relocated. This procedure is usually performed after liposuction and may also be called lipografting. The other surgical procedure to reshape the buttocks is performed with a silicone prosthesis. It consists in placing the prostheses after a cut is made in the split between the buttocks. This technique, when compared to an older technique where the prosthesis is inserted above the muscle, has a more natural result for the patient.

What are the expected results?

With a gluteoplasty, the patient can expect a natural appearance of the buttocks, since the procedure improves the shape of the region by altering the underlying tissues, which supports the fat and skin, and by removing excess sagging.

How is the gluteoplasty aesthetic surgery performed?

In the case of fat grafting, the material is removed from another part of the patient’s body, separated and prepared to be placed in areas with little projection.

In the fat cleaning process, liposuction impurities are removed so that only healthy fat cells are injected in the buttocks. The volume varies, but is around 300 ml in each buttock.

The inconvenience of this technique is that part of the fat is reabsorbed by the body, causing an average of 30% to 50% of what was injected to be lost in the first few months.

This type of gluteoplasty is not indicated for very thin patients, as they do not have enough fat for an adequate projection of the buttocks.

Silicone prostheses, on the other hand, are inserted into the muscle itself, being covered by the muscular tissue and not visible at all. Gluteal prostheses are placed via a cut in the split between the two buttocks, and the surgery takes from one to two hours. The volume placed varies according to each need, but is around 300 to 400 ml.

The surgery can be performed under general or spinal anesthesia. It happens only in hospitals, with a trained plastic surgeon.

Discover the step-by-step of gluteoplasty surgery:

  1. Anamnesis: An appointment with the healthcare professional is scheduled to assess and propose the ideal treatment.
  2. Anesthesia: Anesthesia varies, depending on the chosen procedure. Epidural or general anesthesia are used for liposculpture and prosthesis placement. In the case of bioplasty, the anesthesia is local or epidural, with sedation.
  3. Incisions:

The incisions are usually made in places that are difficult to see and are about 4 mm long. Every care is taken to ensure that these incisions are placed in less visible places. The scar lines are discrete and become nearly imperceptible over time.

  1. Hospitalization time:

For liposculpture and prostheses, hospitalization varies from 12 to 24 hours. The procedure takes 90 minutes, on average. There is no hospitalization for bioplasty

  1. Post-surgery: The procedure is usually easy to recover. However, the patient must take into account some precautions that will contribute to a quick recovery, such as avoiding physical exertion for a period of 30 days, not sitting on the newly operated buttocks and moving around the house to improve circulation in the legs.
