What is Facelift?

Skin aging is a significant issue for older people. Thus, wrinkles and skin sagging are aesthetic conditions that trigger the patients’ desire to undergo a facelifting surgery. This technique consists in lifting and removing excess skin, which, with better positioning, guarantees facial rejuvenation to the patient, making them feel younger, more confident and more attractive.

Medical Travel Brazil has partnered with some of the best surgeons who, in addition to being experts and researchers in the area, are nationally and internationally renowned for the quality and exclusivity of the care provided and precision in surgical results.  Here we explain the real benefits of the procedure and how we can improve your quality of life with a highly safe and warmly supported medical trip by our team of Concierges, Doctors and Nurses.

Who is a good candidate for a facelift surgery?

Facial lifting surgery is indicated for people over 55 years of age with excessive wrinkles in the face and neck.

How are facelifting and mini lifting different?

The main difference between facelifting and mini lifting is that the latter is indicated when wrinkles first appear on the forehead, neck or cheekbone. It is an early treatment against skin aging, and also indicated for patients over 35 years of age.

Facelifting is indicated for facial rejuvenation in older people. In addition, the surgery aims to correct wrinkles and sagging skin in three regions: neck, forehead, and cheekbones, resulting in a younger appearance in these areas.

How is the facelifting aesthetic surgery performed?

The surgeon marks the points to be rejuvenated and the procedure is performed by repositioning the muscle’s skin. In order to treat muscle flabbiness, some stitches are needed to lift the underlying muscle, which results in aesthetic correction. If there is excess skin on the neck, a small and inconspicuous incision needs to be made under the chin.

Discover the step-by-step of facelift surgery:

  • 1. Anamnesis:

An appointment with the healthcare professional is scheduled to assess and propose the ideal treatment.

  • 2. Clinical tests:

The doctor will ask for blood tests and an electrocardiogram, which are required before the surgery.

  • 3. Hospitalization and surgery:

The facelift surgery usually takes between two and a half and five hours. The patient usually stays in the hospital from 12 to 24 hours.

  • 4. Post-surgery:

Recovery from the procedure is easy. The patient will be discharged with bandages on the regions affected during surgery. Full recovery varies from patient to patient, but, on average, it takes between 10 and 21 days. The patient may wash their hair on the first day, but post-surgical care should be maintained for up to 12 days after the procedure.
